Center Policies

Dress Attire

Please wear comfortable attire that is appropriate for the type of class you are taking.

Acting – Most clothing is appropriate.  No skirts or flip-flops.

Ballet – Although leotard and tights (and skirt or warm-up if you wish) are preferred, any fitted clothing is appropriate.  Ballet slippers are required.

Ballroom – Comfortable cotton clothes, and soft, non-marking soled shoes with a maximum heel of 3.5 inches.  Ballroom dance shoes are best.  A bottle of water and a small towel are also recommended.

Contemporary – Barefeet is best.  Shorts are preferred for warmer months, sweats are fine for colder months.

Hip Hop – Anything you can move comfortably in.  Athletic shoes or dance sneakers are ideal.

Jazz – Fitted pants/shorts and top are preferred, as are jazz shoes.

Latin/Swing – Comfortable cotton clothes, and soft, non-marking soled shoes with a maximum heel of 3.5 inches.  Ballroom dance shoes are best.  A bottle of water and a small towel are also recommended.

Salsa – Comfortable cotton clothes, and soft, non-marking soled shoes with a maximum heel of 3.5 inches.  Ballroom dance shoes are best.  A bottle of water and a small towel are also recommended.

Tap – Cropped pants are ideal (so the instructor can see the ankle).  Tap shoes are required.

Tumbling – Students need to wear fitted clothing for this class.

Class Cards

Class cards are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase and may be shared among family members.  Class cards may be used for any drop-in class on our schedule.  Workshops, camps and private appointments require separate payment.

If you need to extend your class card for any reason, you must pay one of these class card extension fees:

1-month extension = $10
2-month extension = $20
3-month extension = $30

Class card extensions begin from the original class card expiration date.  Class cards will not be extended beyond 3 months from the original expiration date, for any reason.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Attendance

Our classes are drop-ins, which means that you may come to any class at any time without pre-registering. You may pay for these classes when you come to the class. For many people whose schedules vary, drop-ins work well because there is no commitment.

Classes for which you must pre-register, such as summer camps and workshops, it is expected that students attend as many classes as possible in which they are enrolled. There should be a minimum of make-up classes so students do not fall behind. REFUNDS are not given for missed classes. If a student must miss a class, please call ahead and inform the teacher.

Drop-in classes, in which there is only one student attending, will run for 30 minutes at the full cost of the class.

Cancellations

Cancellations for workshops, scheduled private appointments, camps, and parties require 24-notice by cancelling online, calling the center at 503-227-8649, or e-mailing info@camicurtis.com.

Cancellations for classes only must be made at least 1 hour prior to the start of the class by cancelling online, calling the center at 503-227-8649, or e-mailing info@camicurtis.com

Punctuality

Coming to class on time is important so as not to disrupt the lesson. In addition, a student who misses the warm-up may risk becoming injured. Students who arrive late may be asked to observe class that day.

Inclement Weather

CCPAC DOES NOT follow the Portland Metropolitan Area School Districts’ policies for closure due to inclement weather. Please call or check our website if you are unsure if CCPAC is closed.

Holiday Closures

CCPAC DOES NOT follow the Portland Metropolitan Area School Districts’ schedules for holiday closures. Please call or check our website if you are unsure if CCPAC is closed.

Refunds

Refunds are not given for missed classes due to illness or conflicting schedules. Family emergencies may be considered an exception to this rule.

Payment

All payments are to be made before classes, workshops, private lessons and rentals begin.  If payment is not made prior, we will charge the credit card we have on file for you.  If we do not have a credit card on file, one will be required before your or your child’s next class.  If you are unable to attend a scheduled private lesson, 24-hour notice is required.

Disruptive Behavior

Inappropriate and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Students who cannot display appropriate classroom behavior will be asked to observe class that day. Cell phones must be turned off before entering the classroom.

Practice

Dance lessons, like music lessons or sports activities, require practice outside of the classroom. It is very important that students take their lessons seriously and come to their next lesson prepared. This will help the student grow and keep the class progressing.
